4/30/2023 0 Comments Linux cpu usage![]() ![]() Given the systemic nature of the problems, I'm thinking that I must have some important settings very seriously misconfigured to generate such poor performance. Simply refreshing a page here on the Arch forums (regardless of browser: I've tried Firefox, Chromium, uzbl, dwb, and surf, with similar results across the board) will send the CPU usage up to around 75% at times. ![]() When reading pdfs in zathura (using the poppler library, I believe), scrolling to the next page will send CPU usage up to 70% or more. For example, typing something up in vim yesterday caused my processor to spike up to 55% usage or higher. I've been noticing increasing and inordinately high CPU usage for tasks that really shouldn't be intensive. I've got old hardware, and threw linux on it since the OS is supposed to run much lighter than windows in comparison, and the possibility of an upgrade is still a few months away, at best. ![]()
